This post is not going to be what you expect. Rather, my silly ramblings regarding
if it is acceptable to wear glasses early on in the dating ritual.
Seriously, I like to wear my eyeglasses a lot to kind of hide my face – keep a low
profile. However, on a first, second or third date I do wish for the guy to
see me without obstruction.
I have accumulated a wonderful collection of glasses frames at this point,
mainly through an online eyeglasses retailer like GlassesUSA.com.
Funny story: I once dated a gorgeous man (a bit older) that treated me well
but I always had that little feeling that perhaps something was not quite right.
Fast forward to one evening, we had planned to get together and I jokingly asked
him if it was okay if I wore my glasses.
His answer was “I guess…. if you wear your hair down.” Oh.
I was a bit speechless, because I had asked in jest.
Fast forward to these days where a day may come when I do not have my contacts on
and I decide to pop into a eyeglass boutique to buy a pair sporadically.

September 5, 2012This is an issue I have as well. I only wear glasses to work but never to go out or on weekends. I feel like two different people, like Clark Kent and Superman. And if I bump into someone with my glasses I feel weird. I need to get over that stat, aka, I'm buying trendy glasses!

I neverr go out at night with my glasses but did a few weekends ago. Good thing too because I was recognized from my old twitter icon (@BostonBloggerGG) and I received special treatment 🙂

I should actually update on this because later I went on a SECOND date looking a straight mess (bun, glasses, no makeup) and apologized to the guy (a different one) for the way I looked. And he said "You look beautiful!" Most actually like my glasses so dang I'll wear what I want haha. Thanks Alyx!

September 5, 2012I am a guy and offer that perspective. I love to see women with glasses. Firstly, it makes you look very smart…sort of like a British accent adding IQ points. I love smart women! Secondly, I think glasses make a woman look sexy. Really! So don't worry, try the specs and you might find some surprising and nice reactions.

September 5, 2012I really just do whatever I want now. First date probably no glasses. It depends on how the date goes but most likely it also depends on the time I have to get ready and if I got enough sleep (another great use – hiding red-rimmed eyes!)

September 5, 2012I never usually wear my glasses unless I'm in the comfort of my own home. However, my husband had seen me in my glasses early on in our dating lives… if he couldn't love me with glasses on, he'd never love me! Nowadays, he's the ONLY person that I feel comfortable wearing my glasses around. 🙂

September 10, 2012I 've had to wear glasses since I was 3. 3! As soon as I was able, I started wearing contacts and would only wear my glasses when I was home & sure no one would be seeing me.
Now that my eyesight has worsened (Thanks, law school!) I need to wear glasses more often. I got an awesome new pair (also through Glasses USA), and now I feel more confident about wearing them "in real life" too 🙂
